Oshi no Ko Anime Adaption has been Officially Announced

Exciting news! It has been announced that the manga series Oshi no Ko has been picked up for an anime adaptation! Written by Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama, Love is War) and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish), in the world of Showbiz, “Lies are weapons.” Goro works as an OB-GYN in the countryside, a life far removed from the entertainment industry. Meanwhile, his favorite idol, Ai Hoshino, has begun her climb to stardom. The two meet in the “worst possible way,” setting the gears of fate in motion!

It was also announced that Daisuke Hiramaki will be directing the series, and Chao Nekotomi will also be serving as the assistant director at studio Doga Kobo, with series composition by Jin Tanaka. And character designs by Kanna Hirayama.

Oshi no Ko, made its debut in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump Magazine on April 23rd, 2020. Since its debut, it has been collected into seven tankobon volumes under the Young Jump Comics Imprint. Volume Eight will go on sale in Japan on June 17th. Shueisha’s Manga Plus published the series on their app for English Audiences. Also, a fun fact, the series ranked 5th place in Anime Japan’s “Most Wanted Anime Adaption” Poll.
