Saturday was one of the biggest nights for the One Piece Fan Community, the TV Anime reached 1000 Episodes, to celebrate that occasion Toei Animation and Funimation had a joint Livestream event, unveiling a new video of the fans thanking Toei and the One Piece Team, etc. But the biggest announcement was saved during the airing of last night’s 1000th episode, One Piece Film Red.
Goro Taniguchi returns to the Straw Hat Crew, the first time since 1998 as the director of One Piece Film Red, Taniguchi is best known as the Director of Code Geass. previously directed the 1998 One Piece: Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack! short for the Jump Super Anime Tour ahead of the TV anime premiere in 1999. Tsutomu Kuroiwa returns from ONE PIECE FILM GOLD to write the screenplay for ONE PIECE FILM RED. Toei Animation is producing an anime film with Eiichiro Oda. The Visuals above were drawn by Oda, according to Anime News Network who reached out to Toei Animation for further comment. The film is set to be premiere in Japanese theaters on August 6th, 2022.
