Back to the Future was a 1985 Science Fiction Film directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale. Despite having a $19 million budget, it earned $381.1 million to become the highest-grossing film of 1985 worldwide. It earned multiple award nominations, winning an Academy Award, three Saturn Awards, and a Hugo Award. The film was followed by Back to the Future II (1989), and Back to the Future III (1990). This iconic trilogy would also inspire Universal Studios to make a Multimedia franchise that would include video games, theme park rides, an animated television series, and a stage musical. With its popularity, it would also inspire numerous books about its production, which included documentaries, and commercials. In 2007, the United States Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry. The Back to the Future Trilogy is available now on Digital, Blu-ray, and DVD.

“A small-town California teen Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is thrown back into the ’50s when an experiment by his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) goes awry. Traveling through time in a modified DeLorean car, Marty encounters young versions of his parents (Crispin Glover, Lea Thompson), and must make sure that they fall in love or he’ll cease to exist. Even more dauntingly, Marty has to return to his own time and save the life of Doc Brown.”
