A Word from Red: Memorial Day Salute and the Anniversary of the Tulsa Massacre, Honoring the Fallen.

Justice Society Issue 50 Variant Teaser- Darwyn Cooke

And now, a word from Red..

Hello Den Lurkers, today is May 31st, 2021 and it is Memorial Day, a Day to honor the men and women who have served in the performance of their military duties. Red’s Nerd Den salutes and thanks to the men and women of the US Military who have made the Ultimate Sacrifice in order to protect our country and freedom.

Also, today is the 100th Anniversary of the Tulsa Massacre, one of the worst acts of Racial Violence in American History, when the white residents of the Greenwood District formed a mob and given weapons from City Officials, most were deputized and began to attack black residents and black businesses. The attacks were carried out on the ground and from private aircraft, destroyed more than 35 square blocks of the district – at that time the wealthiest Black community in the United States, known as “Black Wall Street”. Today, a Century later the Legacy of that weekend is felt and we must honor the lives lost on this day, and do better for future generations. The Nerd Den Salutes and Honors the Men, Women, Families, and Businesses who were affected by this disgusting act of racism and violence.
