It may be Mother’s Day, but it is also Goku Day, and what better way to celebrate both occasions than a brand new announcement from Toei Animation! The Animation Company has confirmed that it will be making a new Dragon Ball Super Movie with an Original Story from Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. He provided character designs and even wrote lines of the script, the movie is currently scheduled to premiere sometime in 2022. Akira Toriyama shared a message with fans around the world:
Planning for the new film project began in 2018, before the release of Dragon Ball Super: Broly. The film has a goal of telling “a large-scale story.” Aside from story composition and character design, Toriyama is also writing lines of dialogue for the film.
The film will be the 21st anime film in the overall Dragon Ball franchise.
