Is Black Lightning dead? Jefferson Pierce says he has had enough in the newest trailer for Season Four, which also is the final season of the series, with a spin-off on the way.

If you recall the third season’s finale, the Pierce family successfully squashed Markovia’s invasion of Freeland led by Gravedigger (Wayne Brady). Unfortunately, they suffered a major loss in the process: Jefferson’s best friend Bill Henderson (Damon Gupton). “I can no longer be the man I was,” Jefferson says at the beginning, “Black Lightning was trying to save the world. I’m just trying to save my family.” Entertainment Weekly released a synopsis for the premiere, along with an exclusive interview with Cress Williams on Jefferson Pierce’s recent loss and dark mood in the premiere.

Jefferson Pierce is still mourning the death of his long-time friend Detective Henderson,” reads the logline. “Meanwhile, Gambi (James Remar) is presented with an interesting opportunity. Lastly, Lynn (Christine Adams) and Jefferson are still not able to see eye to eye.”
