Some have thought that the last time we would see a new Borderlands game was the Pre-Sequel back in 2014, but Gearbox just proved us wrong by announcing Borderlands 3 after months of dropping hints, but there isn’t any word about when they’ll be released on what platform and an actual release date. According to Kotaku, they mentioned that according to 2k Games it’s possible it would be released this coming fiscal year.

It has been hard for Gearbox the past few years, an independent studio in Frisco, Texas that has seen two high-profile failures this decade. In 2013, it released Aliens: Colonial Marines, a game that wasn’t a fan favorite, would be regarded as one of the most misleading games since E.T. for Atari 2600. In 2016 they tried their luck again with Battleborn, a stab at a Hero Shooter game genre that also flopped. So, the stakes are pretty high now, with the hopes that Borderlands 3 will win back the fans.
