Owl House fans have been rejoicing over the recent announcement from the series’s creator, Dana Terrace. Disney Channel’s Peabody Award–winning series The Owl House will be returning for a brand-new sequel through a new OGN (Original Graphic Novel), which will go on sale in Fall 2026, which will focus on the young titan, King.
The new story, The Owl House: The Long-Lived King will take place before the time-skip at the series finale, focusing primarily on the young titan named King. Dana Terrace shared the news on social media (Bluesky and Twitter), it will be written by Terrace with Mikki Crisostomo (a staff writer on the show), and illustrated by Daun Han (one of its storyboard artists). She said that this can open a path to continue the Owl House story, fill in lost gaps, and tell some meaningful stories that we couldn’t in the show. Also, Eda can say “damn” now.
She slammed her former Employer’s flirtation with GEN AI (keep in mind, the company also made a $1 Billion Equity Investment in OpenAI to become their first major content licensing partner on Sora months after this announcement) instructing her fans, “Unsubscribe from Disney+. Pirate Owl House. I don’t care. F*** gen AI.” While the announcement was a surprise, Terrace went onto saying “I certainly won’t make a show w[ith Disney] anytime soon, but publishing is a different (and slow moving) branch, and this has been in the works pre-KOG (Knights of Guinevere, which was greenlit for a full series, and is in production). I’ll also never tell people to stop pirating TOH or criticizing their harmful practices. I always hope things can improve, though.” The book will be released on September 29, 2026, and retail in paperback at 144 pages for $22.99. The Owl House is an animated television series that aired on the Disney Channel from January 10, 2020, to April 8, 2023. Despite its critics, it was a beloved series ranging from a young to older fan base, earning praise for its animation, humor, well-written characters, acting, emotional weight, and themes. It also earned praise for its LGBTQ representation, which featured more than other Disney media, including becoming the first Disney property to feature a same-sex couple in leading roles, a same-sex kiss involving lead characters, same-sex parents, and non-binary characters. The series would go onto being nominated for numerous awards before winning an award at the Peabody Award in the Children’s & Youth Programming category in 2021, and a finalist in the 2023 Global Demand Awards Ceremony in the Children’s Television series category. Despite its popularity, Disney felt that this “didn’t fit their brand,” and it ended with a truncated third season comprised of three specials. The Owl House is available to watch on Disney + and the seasons are avaliable to own on Amazon’s Prime Video.
