We’re weeks away from one of the most anticipated video game releases of 2026, and Capcom is following up with a brand-new showcase for Resident Evil Requiem. We see the return of Leon S. Kennedy, and teasing an open-world setting, one that’s different than its predecessors.

The showcase ran for roughly about 12 minutes, it didn’t provide much information, only confirming that this takes place after Resident Evil 6. Some complaints fans had about this, was the fact that it felt like more of an infomercial than of an actual showcase. A new weapon was revealed, The Requiem, A powerful assault revolver. We’re going to be looking at several takeaways of what was revealed.

Requiem will have three difficulty setting. The first will be Casual, which will allow players to relax, enjoy the story and puzzles, and enjoy the use of aim assist. Next is Standard (Modern), it offers a balanced experience of suspense and a sense of accomplishment that is found in modern Resident Evil games. Finally, we have Standard (Classic). The traditional experience from classic Resident Evil games has returned, something that is recommended for long-time fans of the game series. Autosaves during Grace’s gameplay are limited and Ink ribbons are required to save.

The crafting system is getting another upgrade, this time the developers expanded on the gameplay more akin to Resident Evil 2, which includes the use of infected blood that is only obtainable when you kill a Zombie. In the image above, Grace will be able to craft Specialized Injectors. The one featured in the gameplay footage were Hemolytic Injectors, which involve using handgun ammo and the infected blood that prevents corpses from mutating and can be used to take out enemies stealthily.

The Infected Who Retain Characteristics From Their Previous Life:

We’re looking at a new breed of infection in Resident Evil, and it might be a nod to George A. Romero. If you recall in Romero’s films, the zombies were beginning to evolve from mindless ghouls, to retain echoes of their former lives (Recommended Films: Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, and Land of the Dead), that is the case in Requiem. Rather than being violent and lurch, they are retaining characteristics from their previous lives, whether it be a custodian, or frantically waiting for the elevator to open.

AD: Leon, Claire, Chris, Jill, and Rebecca face a deadly threat on Alcatraz Island in Resident Evil: Death Island. Available now on Blu-ray.

It may have been dedicated to what was coming up in the new game, but a bigger chunk of this showcase spent most of the time discussing the stuff you can buy in real-life that ties in with the game. For example, the Hamilton Watch Set (Feb. 27, 2026), the Porsche Collaboration (a custom-built Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT), the Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy 1/6 scale statues (Fall 2026), the Resident Evil Generation Pack for the Nintendo Switch 2, and the Resident Evil 30th Anniversary Concert. It also included the reveal for Resident Evil Requiem’s Deluxe Edition.
