Nintendo and Universal released the newest trailer for the Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, introducing two iconic characters into the new animated film universe, Rosalina and Bowser Jr in the latest Nintendo Direct.
In the new trailer, we see elements of Super Mario Galaxy and another nod to Super Mario Odyssey featured in this new trailer, and Super Mario Sunshine with the Introduction of Bowser Jr, who is voiced by Benny Safdie (Oppenheimer, The Curse, The Smashing Machine). Speaking of Super Mario Galaxy, the Intergalactic Princess, and adopted mother of the Lumas, Rosalina will be voiced by Brie Larson (Scott Pilgrim VS. The World, Room, Captain Marvel). The movie will be released in theaters in April 2026, April 3rd in the U.S. and most regions, April 24th in Japan, and other territories throughout the month.
Stars from the first film, Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), and Charlie Day (Luigi) all return for the sequel. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is directed by returning filmmakers Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, from a screenplay by returning screenwriter Matthew Fogel, with Brian Tyler returning to compose the score. Both the 2023 film and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie were produced by Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo.

To this day it is considered to be one of the best games in the series and one of the best video games of all time. Its sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2 was released on the Nintendo Wii in 2010.
