After making its US premiere at NY Comic-Con, it has been confirmed that the theatrical anime from Studio 4°C, ‘ALL YOU NEED IS KILL’ will be debuting in theaters across Japan on January 9th, 2026. A new visual and trailer were shared recently, along with new information on the cast involved.

Before we look at the cast involved, the new trailer featured the anime’s theme song titled “Tsuretette” by AKASAKI. Voicing the female lead, Rita, is actress Ai Mikami (Yu Yu Hakusho, Undead Lovers), and the male lead Keiji is voiced by Natsuki Hanae (Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba, DanDaDan, Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma). The film is currently slated to screen at Animation is Film Festival, Bucheon International Animation Film Festival, Leeds International Film Festiva, Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival, San Sebastian Fantasy Film Festival, and Scotland Loves Animation Festival. A wide global release date has yet to be confirmed.
All You Need Is Kill is a Science Fiction Light Novel written by Hiroshi Sakurazaka with illustrations by Yoshitoshi Abe. The book was published in Japanese by Shueisha under their Super Dash Bunko imprint in December 2004, and was later released in English by Viz Media under their Haikasoru imprint. A separate graphic novel adaptation, written by Nick Mamatas and illustrated by Lee Ferguson, was released in North America in May 2014. A live-action film adaptation from director Doug Liman starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, titled Edge of Tomorrow, was released in May 2014. In the same year, it was adapted into a Manga by Moriarty the Patriot’s Ryosuke Takeuchi and Death Note’s Takeshi Obata.
