If you’re not familiar with Fumiya Takahashi’s work, he is well known for his role on Kamen Rider Zero-One as Aruto Hiden/Kamen Rider Zero-One. Takahashi will be joining Ren Meguro, a member of Japan’s top dance-vocal group Snow Man. Meguro will be taking on the lead role of Taro Sakamoto, who will portray Sakamoto in two contrasting forms: the 140-kilogram retired hitman through special effects makeup, and the sharp, legendary assassin in his prime. The film is scripted and directed by hit comedy filmmaker Yuichi Fukuda (Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku, Gintama Live Action the Movie, Yûsha Yoshihiko). The film is set to premiere in 2026, during Japan’s Golden Week.

The anime adaptation directed by Masaki Watanabe (Bartender) at TMS Entertainment premiered in January 2025, with Netflix streaming.

Time has passed peacefully for Sakamoto since he left the underworld. He’s running a neighborhood store with his lovely wife and child and has gotten a bit…out of shape. But one day a figure from his past pays him a visit with an offer he can’t refuse: return to the assassin world or die!
