Viz Media announced that the iconic manga duo, Akira Himekawa (Legend of Zelda, Star Wars: The Legends of Luke Skywalker—The Manga) will be making a special appearance at New York Comic-Con this weekend. They will be introducing their latest mythic adventure, Kamudo.

Fans and Con-goers will have a chance to meet Akira Himekawa, who will be taking part in multiple signings, as well as during a special VIZ Industry Panel where they will share insights into their latest high-fantasy epic, Kamudo. Listed below is a schedule of their appearances, and signings.

What is Kamudo?
- From the duo that brought The Legend of Zelda to manga, comes a bold new Fantasy series. It is set in the mythical realm of Hinoaruchi, Kamudo blends mythology, philosophy, and breathtaking adventure in a sweeping tale that reimagines the boundaries of manga storytelling.
- Kamudo was first launched on Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry service in October 2024. Shogakukan published the manga’s first compiled book volume on Tuesday. The duo first revealed the series at Anime Expo in 2017, stating at the time that they were returning to their roots to draw fantasy stories more influenced by Asian history and mythology. Viz Media is releasing the manga in English digitally as a simulpub and physically, the first volume is available now in Print and Digital.

In the utopian nation of Ryujinkyo, Kamuna—a boy born with the form of a human and the left hand of a dragon—grapples with his identity in a society that both questions and fears his existence. As he begins his training in the ancient art of ryuken, his determination to prove himself fuels a growing rivalry with the fierce demi-dragon Gindu.
