Three months ago, it was announced that Sunrise revealed that the Samurai Troopers anime would be getting a brand-new sequel anime in January 2026 titled Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers.
As of Tuesday, the Staff for the new series followed up with a new trailer and more cast members.
New Cast Members:
Kaito Uesugi/Sōkyū no Kaito– Junya Enoki (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, TONIKAWA: Over the Moon for You, Jujutsu Kaisen)

Shion Ishida/Senkō no Shion– Kentarō Kumagai (Delicious in Dungeon, Aoashi, Welcome to Demon-School, Iruma-kun)

Musashi Hōjō/Suiren no Musashi– Ayumu Murase (Haikyu!!, Dr. Stone, Welcome to Demon-School, Iruma-kun)

Yamato Hōjō/Kōya no Yamato– Shunsuke Takeuchi (Tokyo Revengers, Vinland Saga, Kaiju No. 8)

Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers marks the first television continuation of the series in 37 years since the original ended in March 1989. The new series will be bringing together a high-profile staff, consisting of Yoichi Fujita, known for directing Gintama and Osomatsu-san, who will helm the project. The animation production will be handled by Sunrise Studio. Script and series composition are handled by Shogo Muto, known for his work on Kamen Rider Build, Crows Zero, and Thermae Romae. Yuhei Murota, who designed characters for Love Live!, Love Live! Sunshine!!, and Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian, serves as the lead character designer. Designs for the Yoroi Gear are based on original concepts by Hideo Okamoto, who also worked on SSSS.DYNAZENON. Takuya Suzuki will animate the Yoroi Gear, while villain designs are provided by Tsukasa Kotobuki. Music is composed by Shuji Katayama (Team-MAX).

Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (Armor Legend Samurai Troopers) was created by Hajime Yatate (Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, The Big O) and animated by Sunrise, The Television anime aired from April 30, 1988, to March 4, 1989, for a total of 39 episodes. The Animated Series did inspire three OVA Sequels (Original Video Animation), a short-lived Kodomo manga illustrated and written by Ryūichi Hoshino, and a video game crossover with Ragnarok Mobile. It would later be licensed in the United States, to air and receive an English Dub in the late 90s. The upcoming sequel, Gaishinden Samurai Troopers, will unfold an entirely original story set in present-day Shinjuku. As the seal imprisoning the demonic Youja realm breaks, waves of Youja soldiers invade the human world. In humanity’s darkest hour, five young samurai—new “Samurai Troopers”—rise to face the threat.
