It was a sight to behold. Father and Daughter Manga Creators, Keisuke Itagaki (Baki) and his daughter, Paru Itagaki were taking part in the Netflix 10th Anniversary Special Talk Show “Baki Series × BEASTARS,” where new updates were shared about both Baki-Dou and BEASTARS: The Final Season. Speaking of Baki-Dou, we have confirmation that it will be streaming exclusively on Netflix.
TMS Entertainment will be handling the animation production once again. Accompanied in this announcement was a teaser visual promoting a 2026 release date. As for BEASTARS, new screenshots were revealed, but part two will be released in 2026.
Baki the Grappler was originally serialized in the Shonen magazine, Weekly Shonen Champion from 1991 to 1999 and collected into 42 Tankobon volumes. The series inspired five sequels: Baki (1999 to 2005), Baki Hanma (2005 to 2012), Baki-Dou (2014 to 2018), Bakidou (2018 to 2023), Baki Rahen (2023), and one spin-off manga titled Gaiden. The series also consists of two OVAs, two anime adaptations, a video game adaptation, and two mobile games. Meanwhile, Kyodo Printing Co., Ltd.’s Kodama Tales Inc. announced in May that it is publishing Keisuke Itagaki’s Baki The Grappler manga worldwide in English in 24 volumes starting in October. Kyodo Printing will print the English physical versions in Japan. Pre-orders for the first three volumes are available now on Amazon.

Next up, is what fans have called the Greatest Father-Daughter Talk Show on Earth taking place at the Netflix 10th Anniversary Special Talk Show “Baki Series × BEASTARS” in Tokyo, which took place on September 5th. Keisuke Itagaki and his daughter, Paru Itagaki spoke about the anime adaptations involving Baki and the final season of BEASTARS. The father and daughter duo also shared their mutual respect as fellow Manga Creators.
“Since ‘Baki’ was always at home, I read it from a young age. At first, it seems like a story about a man’s love life, but what I really loved were the poetic descriptions. I realized my father was quite romantic. I think those emotional elements are the reason why more female readers were drawn to the series.”
“I created Legoshi while I was in college, and my father told me, ‘Legoshi will feed you for life.’ At the time, I didn’t believe it, but looking back, he predicted the huge success of ‘BEASTARS.’“
Paru Itagaki
“Honestly, I think she’s a genius. It’s amazing. As a reader, I knew it would sell well. Even before her debut, when I saw her work in elementary and middle school, I thought she would end up creating stories professionally.”

BEASTARS made its serialized debut in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion Magazine on September 6, 2016, and ended on October 8, 2020. The chapters were collected into 22 tankobon volumes, surpassing 10 million copies in circulation. This iconic manga has won numerous awards over the years, such as the 11th Manga Taishō, making it the first Akita Shoten title to receive it. In 2018, Viz Media announced at their Anime Expo panel that they licensed the manga, the first volume released on July 16, 2019, and the last on January 17, 2023. The manga also inspired a spin-off manga titled BEAST COMPLEX, an anime adaptation (which is currently in its final season), and a stage play. The BEASTARS manga is available now and its anime adaptation is on Netflix.
