New Pokémon World Champions Crowned, New Details Emerge on Pokemon XP

Anaheim California had one of the most electrifying events during the weekend, the 2025 Pokémon World Champions have been crowned across Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games, the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE, Those who were in attendance or streaming the event on YouTube or Twitch were treated to new announcements across the Pokémon brand.

The 2025 Pokémon World Championships saw some incredible action and fierce matches. New champions were crowned in Anaheim California during the weekend, here is a list of the newly crowned champions:

  • Pokémon GO:
    • 1st place: “Beelzeboy” Bamb [IN]
    • 2nd place: “P4T0M4N” Marín Torres [ES]
  • Pokémon UNITE:
    • 1st place: PERÚ UNITE [Latin America – South]
    • 2nd place: ZETA DIVISION [Japan]

Pokémon Champions takes the stage at the 2026 Pokémon World Championships, along with Pokémon XP, a new Fan Experience.

One of the first announcements was the new free-to-start game, Pokémon Champions, which will see Trainers from around the world battle it out when the Pokémon Video Game Championships make the shift to Pokémon Champions at the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco. When it does launch, Trainers will be able to compete in Ranked Battles where Pokémon will be able to undergo Mega Evolution and become Mega-Evolved Pokémon such as the newly discovered Mega Dragonite introduced in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Pokémon Champions will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices in 2026.

Beginning on August 26, 2026, the Pokémon World Championships will be leveling up once more, this time with the addition of an all-new fan experience: PokémonXP. This new event will be taking place alongside the World Championships Competition at the Moscone Center in the heart of San Francisco, welcoming Trainers from across the world to celebrate their fandom with a variety of unique offerings and engaging activities, with something for every fan. For the first time on Championship Sunday of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships, competitors will battle it out on an epic stage — the Chase Center — as fans pack the arena to find out who will triumph and earn the title of Pokémon World Champions.
