Five months ago, it was announced that there would be a brand-new arcade boxing game based on the iconic martial arts manga by Keisuke Itagaki, Baki Hanma, and Netflix’s anime series. Now, Baki Hanma: Blood Arena has gotten a new trailer and is confirmed to be released on September 11th, 2025.
The game is a special collaboration between Publisher Purple Play and Thunder Ray developer Purple Tree, in cooperation with TMS Entertainment. Baki Hanma: Blood Arena is a new 2D action game that draws influence from past video games/arcade boxing games such as Punch Out!! And Super Punch Out. It blends precision, timing, and shonen-style flair to deliver a high-energy combat experience.

Baki the Grappler was originally serialized in the Shonen magazine, Weekly Shonen Champion from 1991 to 1999 and collected into 42 Tankobon volumes. The series inspired five sequels: Baki (1999 to 2005), Baki Hanma (2005 to 2012), Baki-Dou (2014 to 2018), Bakidou (2018 to 2023), Baki Rahen (2023), and one spin-off manga titled Gaiden. The series also consists of two OVAs, two anime adaptations, a video game adaptation, and two mobile games. A new anime adaptation is on the way, and it is based on Baki-Dou. The crossover film titled Baki Vs. Kengan Ashura is available now on Netflix.

Meanwhile, Kyodo Printing Co., Ltd.’s Kodama Tales Inc. announced in May that it is publishing Keisuke Itagaki’s Baki The Grappler manga worldwide in English in 24 volumes starting in October. Kyodo Printing will print the English physical versions in Japan. Pre-orders for the first three volumes are available now on Amazon.
