The “SuperWoke” crowd takes another loss as DC Studios and Warner Bros’ Superhero film based on Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster’s Superman flexed its muscles over the weekend, staying at No. 1 for its second weekend. It passed $400 million globally.

The film was already backed by a strong word-of-mouth and reviews from film critics and fans, despite facing Far-Right Backlash (1,2) it declined a less-than-expected 54 percent to $57.2 million for a pleasing 10-day domestic tally of $235 million through Sunday. But it’s a narrow decline coming from the superhero genre, which has been experiencing some lackluster numbers at the Box Office, with Marvel’s box office hit from 2024, DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE faced a similar decline. As for Overseas, the franchise has faced some problems due to the Character’s pro-American traits. The film earned $45.2 million for an international tally of $171.8 million and $406.8 million globally, marking a win for both Warner Bros and DC, passing Disney to rank No. 1 in domestic market share for the year to date.
According to THR, Superman has already passed up the entire lifetime run of Marvel’s Thunderbolts*, which topped out at $383 million globally earlier this year. And it’s days away from overtaking Marvel’s other 2025 entry, Captain America: Brave New World, which earned a meek $415 million worldwide. Listed below are the top five of this weekend’s box office numbers:
U.S. Box Office (7-18/7-20):
- Superman: $57,250,000
- Jurassic World: Rebirth: $23,400,000
- I Know What You Did Last Summer: $13,000,000
- Smurfs: $11,000,000
- F1: The Movie: $9,615,000
