Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto revealed the actors who will be portraying Princess Zelda and Link in a new post on Twitter for Sony and Nintendo’s upcoming Live-Action film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda.
This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.

Actress Bo Bragason (Renegade Nell, The Radleys, The Jetty) will portray Princess Zelda, while actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (The Haunting of Bly Manor, Pinocchio, Son of a Critch) will portray Link. Miyamoto also confirmed that the film would be released on May 7, 2027.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes‘ Wes Ball will direct the feature, while Sony will distribute the film from Nintendo and Avi Arad‘s Arad Productions, Inc. Nintendo representative director and fellow Shigeru Miyamoto produces the feature alongside Arad.
The new live-action feature is adapted from The Legend of Zelda video game series which made its debut in February 1986 on the Family Computer (Famicom) Disk System. It would be brought to North America and Europe a year later in August 1987. Since its debut, the series has expanded to include 21 entries on all of Nintendo’s major game consoles, as well as several spin-offs. It would include an American animated TV series that aired in 1989, merchandise, books, and Manga adaptations that were commissioned by Nintendo and produced in Japan since 1997. The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo’s successful franchises and is considered to be one of the greatest video games of all time.
