Yesterday, we got a good look at Superman, The Justice Gang, and Metamorpho. Today, we’re looking at Superman’s Arch Nemesis, Lex Luthor, Eve Teschmacher, and more.
A reminder from yesterday’s article, there is a brand-new interview with Nicholas Hoult in the newest issue of Empire Magazine (which is available now), where he discusses the inspiration for his portrayal of Superman’s arch nemesis, Lex Luthor. Speaking of portrayals, Sara Sampaio is stepping into the role of Eve Teschmacher, a character created by Richard Donner, and Mario Puzo is portrayed in the comics as Lex Luthor’s assistant turned love interest and right-hand. Teschmacher was portrayed by actress Valerie Perrine in the Christopher Reeve-led Superman films, and by Andrea Brooks on The CW’s Supergirl. Also included in these new posters are María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/The Engineer, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.
This has been described as the DCU’s True Beginning. This is Superman’s first solo film since Zack Snyder’s 2013 film, Man of Steel. A lot is riding on this film due to Warner Bros Discovery’s Superhero film division facing scrutiny due to constant box office flops. Which included its biggest Box Office Flop, The Flash, in which the company lost an estimated $155 million, and Joker: Folie à Deux, which also lost between $150 million to $200 million. The new DCU soft-launched in December with James Gunn’s animated series, Creature Commandos. Following Superman, fans can look forward to next year’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (based on writer Tom King and Artist Bilquis Evely’s comic book story) movie, and the Green Lantern Corps with the down-to-Earth TV series Lanterns.
