Pokémon Legends Z-A Release Date Revealed

The Pokémon Company announced recently that the newest game in the Pokémon Legends franchise, Pokémon Legends Z-A will be released on October 16th for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

But that’s not all, the digital pre-orders will begin on June 5th, while physical pre-orders start on July 23. The game will retail for ¥7,128 (USD 49.46) for the Physical copy, and ¥7,100 (USD 49.26) for Digital in Japan. It has also been confirmed that a new Pokémon Direct will be taking place on July 22nd at 6 a.m. PST.

What is Pokémon Legends Z-A About?

• The story is set in Lumiose City, which originally appeared in Pokemon X and Y (2013). Pokemon LEGENDS Z-A offers a brand-new adventure focused on coexistence between people and Pokémon. The protagonists visit Lumiose City on a trip and stay at the aging Hotel Z while exploring mysteries and incidents in the city alongside their chosen partner Pokémon—Chikorita, Totodile, or Tepig.

What Does The New Game Offer?

• Real–Time Action: For the first time in the Game’s history, it will offer Real-Time Action, breaking away from the traditional turn-based approach it has been known for. Players will be able to battle both Pokémon and trainers in dynamic environments and will control their Pokémon in real-time, issuing commands as they navigate the battlefield.
• Also included in the new system:
  • Real-time positioning
  • Timing-based move execution
  • Range-based attacks
  • Switching and type-matchup strategies

• Mega Evolution Returns: Making its return will be Mega Evolution, allowing certain Pokémon to transform beyond standard evolution. With the power of Keystones, Mega Stones, and enhanced by the strength of bonds, Mega Evolution adds a new layer of competitive depth. Mastering its use will be key to victory.
• The Wild Zone: Players will be able to explore The Wild Zone, a new High-Tech Pokémon Sanctuary designed to foster coexistence with Pokémon. Here is what else the Wild Zone has to offer:
  • Encounter wild Pokémon
    
  • Battle in open areas
    
  • Throw Poké Balls to capture them in real time.

It serves as a follow-up to Pokemon LEGENDS: Arceus, which debuted in January 2022. That title introduced a bold new direction for the franchise, combining action and RPG mechanics as players explored ancient Hisui (Sinnoh) and captured Pokémon to complete the Pokédex.
