It is hard to believe that Sucker Punch Productions and Sony Interactive Entertainment debuted Ghost of Tsushima five years ago. Yesterday, there was new information on the upcoming sequel, Ghost of Yōtei, regarding the theme, story, and more. It also has been confirmed that it will be released on October 2nd.
Ghost of Yōtei is set 329 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima, taking place in the dawn of the Edo period, and the heart of Ezo (called Hokkaido in the present day), a gang of outlaws known as the Yōtei Six took everything from Atsu (Erika Ishii/Fairouz Ai). They killed her family and left her for dead, pinned to a burning ginkgo tree outside her home. But Atsu survived and began her quest for revenge, adapting the identity known as the Onryō (a wrathful spirit). In the new trailer, has updated the way players can explore the open world, offering more freedom and variety than what the first game offered. It also offers glimpses of the allies she will meet, leads to follow as you pick which Yōtei Six members you want to hunt down, and even a new gameplay mechanic that will allow you to glimpse Atsu’s past and understand everything that was taken from her.
Pre-orders for Ghost of Yōtei will begin next week, on May 2 at 10:00 AM in your local timezone (10:00 AM ET for those in the US), listed below are pre-order Exclusives and what will be available in each edition of the game, including pricing. Gamers who pre-ordered either edition of the game will receive a unique in-game mask, as well as a set of seven PSN avatars featuring concept art of Atsu and each member of the Yōtei Six at launch. Pre-orders on the PlayStation Store will receive the avatars immediately.
