Joe Odagiri Returns For Kamen Rider Kuuga Exhibition As a Audio Guide Narrator

The Super Kuuga Exhibition is two months away, and there is big news regarding the audio guide narrator. It has been confirmed that actor Joe Odagiri will be making his return to the world of Kuuga, as an Audio Guide Narrator.

This marks a major milestone for Kamen Rider Kuuga, Odagiri revisits the role that launched his career and brought in a new generation of Kamen Rider Fans, not to mention winning the Seiun Award for Best Dramatic Presentation in 2002. Joe Odagiri was brought in after numerous discussions with Kamen Rider Kuuga’s original producer and the exhibition’s supervisor, Shigenori Takatera (Denji Sentai MegarangerSeiju Sentai Gingamanand Kamen Rider Kuuga). Together, they explored how to approach the legacy of Kuuga 25 years later, leading to Odagiri’s decision to take on the role of exhibition guide.

Through this audio guide, Odagiri will be providing commentary for each part of the exhibition, offering reflections only possible now—two and a half decades after the show aired. But that’s not all, the guide’s script is a brand-new creation from the main writer of the Kamen Rider Kuuga Television Series, Naruhisa Arakawa. With Joe Odagiri’s narration combined with Arakawa’s script, this is a must-listen part for the fans. All attendees of the exhibition will be able to access this guide through their smartphones or tablets. Further details on how to use it will be announced through the exhibition’s official website. The Super Kuuga Exhibition makes its first stop at the Tokyo Dome City’s Gallery AaMo from Saturday, June 14 through Sunday, July 6, located in Bunkyō, Japan. Tickets go on sale on Saturday, April 19, at Noon JST. For advance tickets for Adults (18 Years and Older) go for 2,800 yen (19.24 USD) and advance ticket prices for Under 17 (17 and under) it’s for 2,300 yen (15.80 USD). Meanwhile, same-day tickets are priced at 3,000 yen (20.61 USD) for Adults and those Under 17 priced at 2,500 yen (17.18 USD), and finally, admission is free for children under three. It will be followed by Fukuoka, Nagoya, and Osaka over a year, and is also scheduled to be held in Asia in 2026.

Kamen Rider Kuuga serves as not only the tenth installment in the Kamen Rider Franchise but also the very first Kamen Rider in the Heisei Period. It was the first standalone Kamen Rider Television Series since Kamen Rider RX, it revived the franchise and brought the series into the 21st Century. Kuuga was the first Kamen Rider Television Series that was broadcast in a wide-screen (letterbox) format, which premiered on January 30, 2000, to January 21, 2001, consisting of 49 episodes, and four specials. It would inspire two manga spin-offs, one featured in TeleCoro Comic magazine,  and its reboot series written by Toshiki Inoue and illustrated by Hitotsu Yokoshima, which would be later licensed by Titan Publishing Group for English publication under their new manga imprint. Long ago, the Gurongi Tribe terrorized the Rinto (リント) until a warrior named Kuuga appeared and defeated the Gurongi, sealing their leader within a cave. In the present day, a multi-talented man named Yusuke Godai finds himself linked to the mysterious stoned belt that was found within the excavated cave as the Gurongi are resurrected and resume their murderous game on the descendants of the Rinto, humanity itself.It is up to Yusuke, along with the assembled Science Police, to use the various powers of Kuuga to stop and defeat the Gurongi Tribesmen from their continuous killing and ensure the happiness of others. However, as the endgame draws near, Yusuke learns that there is a horrible revelation behind Kuuga and the Gurongis’ leader.
