Gachiakuta TV Anime Teaser Reveals Cast, July Debut, and More

In a new announcement on Thursday, Crunchyroll will be the new streaming home for the upcoming TV Anime adapted from Kei Urana’s Gachiakuta. There were two trailers released, one Crunchyroll released (region-restricted) and the anime’s website also unveiled the same teaser, non-region-restricted, along with a cast and staff list, confirming that it will be released in July.

Crunchyroll will stream the anime in the following countries: North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS (excluding Russia and Belarus), and the Indian subcontinent. Meanwhile, it will have its television premiere on CBC, TBS, and 26 other channels in July. Listed below is the cast list:

As for the staff, Taku Iwasaki (Bungo Stray Dogs, Shin Kamen Rider) joins the staff as the composer for the music. As previously announced, Fumihiko Suganuma (The First Slam Dunk unit director, Train to the End of the World chief episode director) is directing the anime at BONES. Hiroshi Seko (Chainsaw Man, Vinland Saga, Mob Psycho 100) is in charge of the series scripts. Satoshi Ishino (Date A Live, Captain Earth, Release the Spyce) is designing the characters and is also serving as the chief animation director.

Kei Urana’s Gachiakuta made its debut in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine on February 16, 2022, and is still ongoing to this day. The series is collected into thirteen tankobon volumes, with the fourteenth volume on sale on March 17. Kodansha USA announced in March 2023 that it would license the title for English Audiences. Gachiakuta is also a simulpub series that is available to read on Kodansha’s K-Manga app.

In the slums where the descendants of criminals are forced to live, trash-picker Rudo is constantly the object of discrimination. Then one day, he is framed for a crime he didn’t commit, and is thrown into the dreaded Pit. At its bottom, Rudo catches a glimpse of the truth of the world and manifests an ability to give an object life and draw out its powers. He faces a world that may be infinitely powerful, but he will not let anyone else decide his worth. The curtain rises on this raging battle action series where the enemies are social norms, political power, and prejudice! It’s all to change this steaming dung heap of a world!!
