This weekend was the 22nd Annual Emerald City Comic Con held at the Seattle Convention Center in Seattle Washington, and Viz Media had a panel at the convention. The manga publisher revealed several big things, one of them being Tsuyoshi Takaki’s acclaimed ninja-meets-mononoke manga, Black Torch getting a TV Anime Adaptation.
Kingdom Trailer and English Debut Date Announced
One of the big announcements last month regarding upcoming manga was Yasuhisa Hara’s Historical Manga, Kingdom, finally accessible to English-speaking readers for the first time, publishing November 11, 2025. Kingdom will also join the Shonen Jump service following the release of each graphic novel. This iconic manga has sold over 110 million copies worldwide, an anime adaptation, three live-action films, PlayStation and mobile games, and a devoted international fanbase. A new trailer (above this paragraph) for the manga’s release was streamed during the panel, giving convention-goers who haven’t read the manga a chance to see why it is considered to be one of the greatest manga of all time. Yaiba: Samurai Legend To Be Streamed On Netflix and Hulu

Gosho Aoyama’s beloved shonen manga, Yaiba: Samurai Legend has two new streaming homes according to a brand-new licensing deal that includes theatrical, television, digital, home entertainment, ancillary, and merchandise for North America, Latin America (including the Caribbean), Australia, and New Zealand. Yaiba: Samurai Legend will be available on Netflix in North America, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand, and will also stream on Hulu in the United States. Brian Ige, Sr. Vice President, Animation spoke about this new licensing deal, sharing the excitement for bringing it to a wider audience and its commitment to delivering the best anime and manga content.

VIZ Manga will release chapters 1-23 of the YAIBA: Samurai Legend manga series digitally in English for the first time on March 20, 2025, with Volume 1 set to be published in print on July 8, 2025, allowing new and returning fans to experience the thrilling saga from the very beginning. Black Torch Gets A TV Anime Adaption
Finally, Viz Media announced a new TV Anime adaptation of Tsuyoshi Takaki’s Black Torch is in production. Black Torch was originally serialized in Jump SQ and Shonen Jump+ from 2017 to 2018, BLACK TORCH quickly gained popularity across Japan and international markets. Tsuyoshi Takaki is known for his other popular Shonen Manga, Heart Gear, which was serialized on Shonen Jump+ from 2019 to 2024.
