Witch Watch Reveals New Trailer and Opening Theme, Set To Premiere On April 6

Big news coming in from three different companies regarding the TV Anime based on Kenta Shinohara’s Witch Watch. First, in this year’s twelfth issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine, Witch Watch is celebrating its fourth anniversary of serialization and also confirming that the Anime adaptation is coming up in April.

GKIDS and MBS unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming Witch Watch TV Anime, confirming that YOASOBI would be performing the Opening theme titled “Watch Me!” Anime News Network has exclusive comments from the band. As for the anime’s release date, it will be coming out on April 6, 2025.

The anime will air for two consecutive cours (quarters of a year) on MBS, TBS, and 26 affiliated channels. The series will air on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. JST. Crunchyroll, Netflix, ADN, Aniplus, Hulu, and Tropics will stream the anime as it airs in various countries and territories outside Japan. GKIDS acquired the North American Theatrical Rights to air the first three episodes of Witch Watch in theaters on March 16, tickets will go on sale later this week. It has been described as a special theatrical premiere event, and will feature the first three episodes with exclusive interviews.

Kenta Shinohara’s Witch Watch was serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2021 and is currently an ongoing title with 20 tankobon volumes. Witch Watch was nominated for the seventh Next Manga Award in the Best Printed Manga category and placed tenth out of 50 nominees. Viz Media licensed the manga and published it for English audiences, it released both the chapters and volumes digitally, the chapters are available through Viz’s Shonen Jump app, while Shueisha’s Manga Plus also publishes the chapters in English.

Morihito Otogi’s family is descended from a long line of ogre familiars, and he has the inhuman strength to prove it. One day, his father comes to him with the life-changing news that he is to become the familiar of his childhood friend, the teenage witch Nico. He is to live under the same roof with her and protect her from anything and anyone who may attempt to harm her. Meanwhile, Nico is excited to get to live with the love of her life, even if her crush is one-sided—Morihito is so serious about his duties to protect her that any romance is going to be an uphill battle. But he has every reason to be serious, as Nico has a prophecy of doom hanging over her head!
