Despite its critics, Marvel Studios Captain America: Brave New World has shown them that it is Box Office Hit, bringing in $100 million during Valentine’s Day/Presidents Day weekend, including $88.4 million for the three days.
The reports are coming in, and they show that Anthony Mackie’s Captain America film started with $192.4 million after launching to $92.4 million internationally. It has also become one of the top domestic openings for the Presidents Day holiday and the biggest opening of 2025 to date.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was the fourth-biggest Presidents Day four-day launch behind three other Marvel pics; 2018’s Black Panther ($242.2 million), which shattered records for director Ryan Coogler and Marvel/Disney in becoming the first Hollywood tentpole to feature a virtually all-Black cast; Ryan Reynolds’ maverick and groundbreaking 2016 film Deadpool ($152.2 million) and 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($120 million), not adjusted for inflation. Whether the critics like it or not, Brave New World was the film Marvel needed to breathe a sigh of relief, after facing several setbacks with most of its films (Unlike its rival, Warner Bros Discovery, which has been facing constant Comic Book Film related box office flops, pinning it’s hopes on James Gunn’s Superman Film), but is in a better place now, thanks to Deadpool & Wolverine, which became the top-grossing R-rated pic of all time after earning north of $1.3 billion globally in the summer of 2024. Listed below are this weekend’s top five box office numbers:
- Captain America: Brave New World– $100,000,000
- Paddington in Peru– $16,000,000
- Dog Man– $12,500,000
- Heart Eyes– $11,100,00
- Ne Zha 2– $8,300,000
