Second Mononoke Film Unveils New Trailer and Updated Cast List

Things are beginning to heat up on the newest trailer for the second film in the Mononoke trilogy, Mononoke the Movie Trilogy: Chapter 2: The Ashes of Rage. The Official Twitter Account for the Mononoke Film Project released a new look at the film and an updated cast list.

Joining the new film will be the following actors (Listed from Left to Right): Fujimaki voiced by Ryo Horikawa (Dragon Ball Z, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac), Katsunuma voiced by Naomi Kusumi (Baki the Grappler, Captain Earth, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War), Suikoin voiced by Yoshiko Sakakibara (Record of the Lodoss War, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, The Duke of Death and His Maid), Sayo voiced by Yukana (Monster Girl Doctor, Dragon Ball Super, Code Geass), and Sachiko voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Spy x Family, Wonderful Precure!).

The new theme song titled Hana Musо̄ will be part of the new Mononoke Film, no release date for the single has been confirmed yet but the article will be updated when the release date for the single has been announced. The second film was confirmed to cover the tale of the Fire Rat with Hiroshi Kamiya returning to reprise the role of the Medicine Seller, joining him will be Haruka Tomatsu as Botan Ōtomo, Yōko Hikasa as Fuki Tokita, and Yūki Kaji as Saburōmaru Tokita. Two new cast members were also announced recently, Kenyuu Horiuchi will be taking up the role of Rōjū Ōtomo and Chō to portray Yoshimichi Tokita.

EOTA and Twin Engine are handling the animation production with Kenji Nakamura returning to direct the Mononoke Film. Kitsuneko Nagata provides the original character designs, Yuuichi Takahashi provides the animation character designs and serves as chief animation director, and Taku Iwasaki provides the music. The first film, Mononoke The Movie: Phantom in the Rain is currently streaming on Netflix. Mononoke the Movie Trilogy: Chapter 2: The Ashes of Rage is set to premiere in theaters on March 14, 2025.
