Following up on a similar article I wrote regarding Paru Itagaki’s BEASTARS Documentary, NHK WORLD-JAPAN is back with another new episode of Anime Manga Explosion, this time featuring the iconic anime studio, Studio Pierrot.
It was first announced by Pierrot on their Twitter account that they would be featured on NHK WORLD-JAPAN’s docuseries, focusing primarily on their two anime adaptations of Tite Kubo’s BLEACH, and Masashi Kishimoto’s NARUTO. In this new special, they feature behind-the-scenes secrets on how Naruto became a Global Phenomenon with Director Date Hayato, and an exclusive look at the production behind Bleach: The Thousand-Year Blood War.

Pierrot was founded in May 1979 by Yuji Nunokawa, previously an animator and director for Tatsunoko Production. Since its debut, it has released over 120 anime productions with over 80 adaptations under its belt, a studio best known for its high-quality animation production and for adapting iconic works such as Naruto, Bleach, Tokyo Ghoul, Yu Yu Hakusho, Black Clover, and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
For more episodes of Anime Manga Explosion, head over to NHK WORLD-JAPAN (The NHK WORLD-JAPAN App is available on the Apple App Store, Google Play, Roku TV, and Amazon Fire Stick). The Pierrot episode is available now.
