Dynamite Entertainment is back once again with another first look at the latest ongoing Disney title for Zootopia. If you recall in the first issue, Officers Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde were on the scene at the PB&J Cell Phone Event hosted by the owner, Tripp Zebrando, when suddenly the duo got caught up in a Sabotage plot! Now we’re into the second issue, and onto another case.
The Investigation in the PB&J Cellphone Sabotage plot has been Stalled Temporarily, so Judy and Nick are investigating a break-in at the Zootopia Recycling Depot, managing skunk Chuck Flowers is quick to emphasize when Hopps and Wilde arrive to view his security tapes. The footage of the felonious raccoons and opossums hauling away bags of garbage is clear enough, but what’s not clear is what kind of trash it is that they’re stealing – or why. There’s only one way to crack this case: It’s time for a good old-fashioned stake-out! Zootopia Issue Two goes on sale on February 12. Pre-Orders are available now on Amazon.
First announced three months ago, this new comic book series is based on the first film and the Disney Plus series, featuring the creative team of writer Jeff Parker (Batman ’66, Aquaman, Future Quest), and artist Alessandro Ranaldi (Disney Villains: HADES, Beyond the Farthest Star, Zorro in the Land That Time Forgot) take us back into the wild world of Zootopia in a brand-new story that will feature characters from the film.
The first Zootopia film opened to $75 million at the domestic box office in 2016, which at the time was the largest opening for any of Disney’s non-Pixar animated films (a record now held by “Frozen 2”). It would go on to earn $341 million at the domestic box office and almost double that from the international market. “Zootopia’s” worldwide gross sits at just over $1 billion, making it the third highest-grossing animated Disney film of all time, behind “Frozen” and “Frozen II.” In 2022, Disney+ released Zootopia+, an anthology miniseries of seven-minute shorts starring side characters from the “Zootopia” universe. Zootopia is available now on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital, and on Disney Plus. Also, be sure to pick up Zootopia Issue No. One now at your local LCS, Digital, and e-retailer.
