Seven days until the newest chapter in the Mobile Suit Gundam Franchise makes its grand debut in theaters in Japan with Mobile Suit Gundam GQUUUUUUX -Beginning-, a theatrical version consisting of several re-edited episodes. A new trailer was released recently, featuring the film’s new theme music performed by Kenshi Yonezu.
Yes, you heard it right, Award-winning musician Kenshi Yonezu, who performed music for Chainsaw Man, Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron, and Shin Ultraman will be performing the film’s theme music titled Plazma. It was announced previously that the film will be screened in Japanese theaters (estimated to be shown in 373 theaters nationwide), it has been updated to 426 theaters, including 52 IMAX theaters, according to Anime News Network. The theatrical version will mark the first time for a Gundam anime to be screened in select IMAX theaters in Japan.
The staff and cast list were announced, starting with the staff we have Kazuya Tsurumaki (Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time) will serve as the director, Yoji Enokido (Sailor Moon, Revolutionary Girl Utena, RahXephon) will handle the series composition. As for the cast, we have Tomoyo Kurosawa (Sound! Euphonium, Scarlet Nexus, Aikatsu!) As Amate Yuzuriha (MACHU), Shimba Tsuchiya (Ryômaden, Haikyu!!, Blue Orchestra) as Shuji Ito, and Yui Ishikawa (Attack on Titan, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure) as Nyaan. The new film will be in theaters on January 17.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQUUUUUUX will air in Japan on the Nihon Television Network stations, no release date has been given. Studio Khara (Evangelion, Shin Ultraman, Shin Kamen Rider) would be working alongside Sunrise (Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, City Hunter) who has handled the Gundam Series since its debut in 1979. The GQuuuuuuX HG 1/144 plastic model is set to be released in Japan on January 17, 2025. Entertainment Earth and Amazon have pre-orders available now. Meanwhile, you can catch the Mobile Suit Gundam anime adaptions on Crunchyroll and Netflix.

When she meets a war refugee named Nyaan, Amate is drawn into the illegal mobile suit dueling sport known as Clan Battle.
Under the entry name “Machu,” she throws herself into fierce battle day after day, piloting the GQuuuuuuX. Then an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police appears before her, along with its pilot, a boy named Shuji.
Now their world is about to enter a new era.
