He’s finally here. The Man of Steel is back in a brand-new film, the trailer begins with a battered and bruised hero, crash landing in a frozen landscape. His breathing is labored and possibly has broken ribs, then there is hope on the horizon — in the form of his trusty friend, Krypto. “Take me home,” Superman says to his canine friend.
What has been described as the DCU’s True Beginning, Writer and Director of Superman, James Gunn shared the new trailer on Twitter yesterday, revealing not only familiar allies but also old and new foes. This is Superman’s first solo film since Zack Snyder’s 2013 film, Man of Steel. A lot is riding on this film due to Warner Bros Discovery’s Superhero film division facing scrutiny due to constant box office flops, which includes its biggest Box Office Flop, The Flash, in which the company lost an estimated $155 million, and Joker: Folie à Deux, which also lost between $150 million to $200 million.
The new trailer for Superman has already broken a new YouTube Record, it was viewed over 250 million times on its first day, and Gunn confirmed that it blew many of this year’s studio tentpoles out of the water. The first “Joker: Folie à Deux” trailer launched with 167 million views in its first 24 hours, for instance, while “Inside Out 2,” the highest-grossing movie of the year with $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office, launched its trailer to 157 million views. Marvel’s “Deadpool and Wolverine” trailer still holds the record for the biggest trailer launch of all time with 365 million views.

Joining Corenswet will be Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Manhattan, House of Cards) as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult (X-Men First Class, Crossing Swords, The Great) as Superman’s arch nemesis, Lex Luthor. It will also include Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Ozu (Krypto) and more. Created by Jerry Sigel and Joe Shuster, Superman made his heroic debut in Action Comics #1 in June 1938 (Cover Dated June 1938, published on April 18, 1938). Since his debut, Superman has been adapted into numerous forms of merchandise and media such as Television, Films, Radio Serials, Novels, Theater, and Video Games. Superman makes its debut in Theaters and IMAX on July 11, 2025.
