SEGA and Paramount Pictures are taking the advertisements up another level for the upcoming sequel, Sonic the Hedgehog 3. This time, releasing new posters, three new cast members join the Japanese Dub Cast and teasing that the ticket sales would begin a week away.
Speaking of the Japanese Dub Cast, three new members have joined. Aoi Yūki (Pokémon, My Hero Academia, Saga of Tanya the Evil) will be taking on the role of Maria, Kōichi Yamadera (Ranma 1/2, Cowboy Bebop, Lupin III) will be taking on dual roles, Dr. Robotnik and Professor Gerald Robotnik, and finally, Toshiyuki Morikawa (Naruto, Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger, Final Fantasy VII Remake) will voice as Shadow. The Dub Cast from the previous Sonic Films will be returning to reprise their roles.
In August, we finally got a chance to see a new trailer that confirmed that Keanu Reeves would be voicing Shadow, and Jim Carrey would take on duo roles, returning as Dr. Robotnik, and the role of Gerald Robotnik, Dr. Robotnik’s Grandfather. Ben Schwartz, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, and Idris Elba will be returning to reprise their roles as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, while we also see the return of James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski and Lee Majdoub as Agent Stone. Maria will be portrayed by Alyla Browne (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, Nine Perfect Strangers). Jeff Fowler, who directed the first two films, returns for the third. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be released in North America on December 20 and in Japan, it will be released on December 27.
Shadow, Gerald, and Maria were first introduced in the platform game sequel Sonic Adventure 2 on the SEGA Dreamcast on June 19, 2001. The trio (Gerald and Maria in flashback sequences) would make another appearance again in the spin-off title Shadow the Hedgehog and other areas throughout Comic books and on the TV anime series, Sonic X. Shadow played a big role in the new video game Sonic x Shadow Generations, which is available now for the following consoles: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows.
Sonic the Hedgehog returns to the big screen this holiday season in his most thrilling adventure yet. Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before. With their abilities outmatched in every way, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet.
