Witch Watch Summons A New TV Anime, Set To Premiere In April 2025

A few days ago we learned that Kenta Shinohara’s Fantasy RomCom Witch Watch would be getting its very own TV Anime, something fans have been curious about for a couple of years. But now, it has been confirmed that it will be released in April 2025.

For staff, Hiroshi Ikehata (Nakaimo: My Little Sister Is Among Them, Yuyushiki, TONIKAWA: Over the Moon for You) will be directing the anime at Bilbury Animation Studios, with series composition by Deko Akao (The Case Study of Vanitas), character designs by Haruko Iizuka (Horimiya) and music by Yukari Hashimoto (A Sign of Affection).

Kenta Shinohara’s Witch Watch was serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2021 and is currently an ongoing title with 17 tankobon volumes, the 18th volume set to be released on September 4, 2024. Witch Watch was nominated for the seventh Next Manga Award in the Best Printed Manga category and placed tenth out of 50 nominees. Viz Media licensed the manga and published it for English audiences, it released both the chapters and volumes digitally, the chapters are available through Viz’s Shonen Jump app, while Shueisha’s Manga Plus also publishes the chapters in English.

Morihito Otogi’s family is descended from a long line of ogre familiars, and he has the inhuman strength to prove it. One day, his father comes to him with the life-changing news that he is to become the familiar of his childhood friend, the teenage witch Nico. He is to live under the same roof with her and protect her from anything and anyone who may attempt to harm her. Meanwhile, Nico is excited to get to live with the love of her life, even if her crush is one-sided—Morihito is so serious about his duties to protect her that any romance is going to be an uphill battle. But he has every reason to be serious, as Nico has a prophecy of doom hanging over her head!
