Things are beginning to heat up on the Tennis Ball Court with a new look at what’s to come in the upcoming season of The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Semicup Final. The best part of getting this new trailer and visual was the confirmation that the new season will premiere on October 2, and we’re finally getting to see Ryoma go up against Jürgen Borisovich Volk.
Accompanying the new trailer was a brand-new opening theme from Kidella titled Wake Up! Aside from Ryoma going up against Jürgen, we see a stare-down between Ryoma and Kunimitsu Tezuka. The New Visual also shows each team and its captains (Byoudouin Houou of Japan U-17, and Jürgen Borisovich Volk of Germany U-17).
The New Prince of Tennis (or Prince of Tennis II) was written and illustrated by Takeshi Konomi, it has been serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Magazine, Jump Square since March 2009. 379 chapters would be collected into 42 tankobon volumes as of July 4, 2024. It would be adapted into a TV anime that ran from January to March of 2012 and a newer series titled The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup, airing from July to September 2022. Crunchyroll airs both The Prince of Tennis and The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup anime on their streaming service.

When tennis phenom Ryoma Echizen is kicked out of Japan’s elite U-17 training camp for breaking the rules, he’s despondent. But a stroke of good luck hits when he’s able to try out for the U.S. team. Proving himself against their hardened veterans isn’t going to be easy, and if he is accepted, he’ll have to play against his former friends. Can he help his new brothers smash their way to victory?
