Hell Teacher: Jigou Sensei Nube was first serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine from August 1993 to May 1999, consisting of 276 chapters collected into 31 tankobon volumes. Shueisha would re-release it in 2006 in new bunkoban volumes, filled with more chapters than the original 31 volumes originally had. It would also contain new material from Takeshi Okano. In April 2014, Makura and Okano would get a new One-Shot published in Grand Jump titled “Jigoku Sensei Nube: Ōmagatoki“, set 15 years after the original manga ended. The duo would then launch a sequel manga titled Jigou Sensei Nube Neo in Grand Jump Premium in May 2014, the manga reached its finale in December 2018 and consisted of 17 Tankobon volumes, which would eventually inspire Jigou Sensei S in 2018, and two other spin-off titles. The original manga would inspire an anime adaptation produced by Toei Animation, three films, and OVAs, a video game (along with three appearances in other games), and a ten-episode drama in October 2014.

The story follows Meisuke Nueno, aka “Nube,” a psychic teacher with a demon hand, as he battles evil spirits and monsters to protect his students in this saga that employs elements of Japanese mythology and folklore to tell a fan-pleasing action story.
Known for its occult and horror elements on school ghost stories and urban legends, Nube captivated readers across generations with his heroic efforts to save his students from supernatural threats.
