Things are certainly changing with DC. A DC Boss leaving Warner Bros. Discovery due to focusing on a family health issue and then the new report from ICv2 regarding the Publisher’s Market Share continuing to decline. DC aims to shake things up with its newest comic book line, DC ALL-IN.

What looks to be DC’s answer to Marvel’s recent relaunch of their Ultimates line, writers Joshua Williamson and Scott Snyder discussed the future of the DC Comic Universe and beyond in a new YouTube video posted yesterday on the Publisher’s official YouTube Channel. That’s right, what is being described as the Company’s Biggest Initiative in decades, where creators can come in and tell their best stories, Snyder describes it as the Perfect Jumping On Point for new readers. He also stressed that this isn’t a reboot, a retcon to the current DC Universe.

The new All In Comic Line will begin with the oversized special DC ALL IN SPECIAL, which will go on sale in October and is set to reintroduce Darkseid as what he has always been to the DC Universe, as its greatest villain. Scott Snyder mentioned that Darkseid has begun to realize that something has been missing, sensing something has changed. As he begins to go on a quest to find the answers he is looking for, Darkseid collides with a new Justice League.

“One thing it creates is a dangerous wild new planet where we’ve invited in the biggest names in comics and some rising stars to reinvent the characters, “All in one place.” The story will create a “driving force” for the company for “years to come.”

Scott Snyder

This new universe was founded on Darkseid’s Energy, vastly different than how the main universe’s energy was founded on Superman’s Energy. In this Absolute Universe, the heroes are the underdogs, which means they will have to be more resourceful and tougher. The news on this new Comic Line has met with mixed reactions, some positive, and some with criticism due to memories of DC’s lackluster reboot, the New 52. For an in-depth look at the new creative teams that will be taking on this new line, AIPT has the exclusive details.
