The Official Twitter Account for the Live-Action film adaptation of Akane Shimizu’s Cells at Work! Manga posted an “early” teaser trailer on Tuesday. Revealing the staff, main cast, and a December premiere date.

Joining the main cast will be actress Mei Nagano (Half Blue, Voice Love, Peach Girl) as Red Blood Cell and Takeru Satō (Kamen Rider Den-O, Half Blue, Bakuman -Live Action-) as White Blood Cell. For the staff, Hideki Takeuchi (Thermae Romae, Tonde Saitama, Daughter of Lupin) will be serving as the film’s director, Yūichi Tokunaga (Kaguya-sama: Love Is War –Live-Action-, Princess Jellyfish, Kappei) will handle the film’s script, and Warner Bros. Japan will be distributing the film. The film is set to debut in December 2024.

Shimizu’s Cells at Work manga series was first serialized in the March 2015 edition of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius manga magazine and ended its run in 2021. The series would tackle various health issues throughout its run, including COVID-19 during the final part of its run, which Japan’s Health Ministry would offer a way for readers to read the chapters for free. Cells at Work would inspire several spin-off manga titles, two anime adaptations (Cells at Work and Cells At Work: Code Black), a light novel adaption, and a stage play. You can watch the Anime series on Crunchyroll, and read the Cells at Work series on KManga.
