If you recall during the Anime Expo in 2022 it was first announced that Ultraman would finally be getting to fight side-by-side with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, The Avengers. Two years later, we’re finally getting new details on that long-awaited mini-series.
It’s the crossover that fans have been waiting for, the Greatest Hero of Japan and Marvel’s Avengers finally getting to have that crossover event. Marvel has confirmed that this will be a Four-Issue mini-series titled Ultraman x Avengers.
Of course we’re excited to be back with more ULTRAMAN, as ever, but especially for such a meaningful event, This is the first time Ultraman will meet the Avengers, despite them having so much in common—both being created in the 1960s, both being arguably the most popular and successful super heroes from their respective countries of origin. Being able to tell the story of this historic meeting: discovering how they interact, the ways in which they’re different, what they have to learn from each other—it’s a tremendous privilege.
Kyle Higgins and Mat Groom
This new mini-series will be bringing back Marvel Ultraman’s writers Kyle Higgins (Radiant Black, Nightwing, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) and Mat Groom (Self/Made, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, The Singularity) and artist Francesco Manna (Fantastic Four, The Amazing Spider-Man, Captain Marvel). It will feature appearances from Marvel Heroes such as The Avengers, Spider-Man, and more. This four-issue mini-series will be available at your local comic shop and e-retailer on August 14.
Spider-Man has disappeared from New York, an intergalactic invader has arrived on Ultraman’s doorstep, and the Kaiju of Earth is acting even more mysteriously than usual. This can only mean one thing: It’s time for Ultraman to meet the Avengers! But what cosmic threat is great enough to require a team-up of Marvel’s mightiest champions and Japan’s greatest hero? Find out as Shin meets Sam, Spacium Ray meets Repulsor Ray, and “THWIP!” meets “SHUWATCH!” in the epic crossover event.
