HIDIVE announced on Monday that they would be adding the TV anime adaption of Synecdoche’s Plus-Sized Elf to their Summer 2024 lineup.
We’re excited to present the new series Plus-Sized Elf as part of our exclusive line-up of simulcasts this summer, without a doubt, fans can expect some extra-large laughs from what is sure to be a larger-than-life comedy. Get ready for some fun!

The Plus-Sized Elf anime will be adapting the original manga and the current manga series Plus-Sized Elf: Second Helping! Which launched in December 2016 (The Original) and October 2021 (Current Manga), respectively. The current title is published in Dokodemo Young Champion by Akita Shoten. The English language versions of both titles are published by Seven Seas Entertainment. The anime series is set to premiere in July.
For staff, Toshikatsu Tokoro will be directing the anime at Elias. Katsuyuki Sato will be handling Character Designs and Yūki Takabayashi will be handling series scripts. Yukiko Ario is in charge of color design, Shinobu Takahashi is the art director, and Yoshikazu Miyagawa is the compositing director of photography. For the voice cast, we have Ayasa Itō (Elfuda), Takahide Ishii (Tomoatsu Naoe), Rena Hasegawa (Kuroeda), and Ayaka Fukuhara (Oga).
Naoe-kun, a massage therapist, is about to head home for the day when he’s saddled with a rather strange patient. This lovely lady has emerald eyes, pointy ears, and grew up in the forest—everything about her screams “elf,” except for one thing: her bodacious body. It turns out she left her world but loves junk food in this one, and now her obsession has caught up with her. Can Naoe-kun help this loveable elf girl lose the weight—and keep it off?
