They are coming back. The classic nineties X-Men animated series is the latest series brought back in a nostalgia binge that the entertainment industry is quick to capitalize on. Cyclops looks to lead the X-Men in a new era without Charles Xavier, using their gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, and forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future.

Beau DeMayo serves as head writer; episodes are directed by Jake Castorena, Chase Conley, and Emi Yonemura. Featuring music by The Newton Brothers, the series is executive produced by Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and DeMayo. Finally, the animation production will be handled by Studio MIR (The Legend of Korra, My Adventures with Superman, Dota: Dragon’s Blood).
The voice cast for the new series sees some minor changes, one of them being Ray Chase (Demon Slayer, Baki, Jujutsu Kaisen) taking on the role of Cyclops. Norm Spencer was the original voice actor of Cyclops in the 90s animated series but passed away in August 2020. Jennifer Hale (Wolverine and the X-Men, Marvel Anime: X-Men, Totally Spies!) as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith (X-Men, Silver Surfer, Delilah & Julius) as Storm, Cal Dodd (X-Men, Spider-Man, Goosebumps) as Wolverine, JP Karliak (Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Eden) as Morph, Lenore Zann (X-Men, Rescue Heroes, Animal Mechanicals) as Rogue, George Buza (X-Men, Spider-Man, Dog City) as Beast, AJ LoCascio (Gremlins: Secrets of Mogwai, Voltron: Legendary Defender, Ranking of Kings) as Gambit, Holly Chou (Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name) as Jubilee, Isaac Robinson-Smith (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Resident Evil: Death Island, Maboroshi) as Bishop, Matthew Waterson (The Croods: Family Tree, Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham, Asgard’s Wrath 2) as Magneto, and Adrian Hough (The Dragon Prince, Rescue Heroes, X-Men) as Nightcrawler. The 10-Episode series will premiere on March 20 on Disney Plus.
Also, coming this fall is Hiroshi Higuchi’s’ X-Men Vol. 1, The English edition manga adaptation of the beloved X-Men: The Animated Series is newly remastered and presented in a deluxe edition for the first time.
