Let’s see, we have collectible covers that include the Original Ghostbusters and the New Generation, according to an exclusive report from Empire, it will feature a new inventor that has the Egon Spengler Vibes played by James Acaster. Finally, the promise of Original, Weird As F*** Villains drew inspiration from the animated cartoon series The Real Ghostbusters, according to the film’s director, Gil Kenan.

We wanted to bring that show’s looseness and fearlessness to this movie, I think it’s going to surprise people just how big this film is.

Recently, it has been mentioned that the filmmakers, nor Sony, haven’t gotten in touch with the one who helped create the Creepy Ghosts and Villains from the beloved series, writer J. Michael Straczynski, who brought this up previously in November 2023 in response to Kumail Nanijiani’s social media post about how the filmmakers wanted to pay tribute to the show and lore, whether or not Straczynski’s creations happen to appear in the new film, this writer hopes that Columbia Pictures and the filmmakers will make an effort to give proper credit to the men and women who made the 80s animated series so memorable.

It will see the return of Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, and Finn Wolfhard along with the Original Stars that include Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts. New additions to the cast would also include Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O’Connor, and Logan Kim. The film will also serve as the first film in the Ghostbusters film franchise that will not include the involvement of the film’s original director, Ivan Reitman, who passed away in 2022. His son Jason directed Afterlife with Ivan, before his passing at 75, credited as a producer and co-screenwriter. The new film is directed by Gil Kenan, who co-wrote it with Jason Reitman. Be sure to check out the film when it debuts in theaters on March 22nd, and buy the latest issue of Empire Magazine, which goes on sale tomorrow!
