Po Faces A Cunning New Enemy In Kung Fu Panda Four’s New Trailer

After defending China in three films and TV series spin-offs, the new trailer reveals that Po is looking to retire from being the Dragon Warrior and become a spiritual leader. Po begins to train his successor, a fox named Zhen (Awkwafina), but a new enemy named Chameleon has other plans, one that brings back past enemies.

Many fans were wondering after the trailer premiere, where is the Furious Five? Don’t worry, the Furious Five will be in the new film according to the film’s director, Mike Mitchell in a new interview with Collider. “They make an appearance, I’ll tell you that much. But to be fair, Po is leaving the Valley of Peace and he’s going on a huge adventure to this giant city…” the question that had fans most concerned was if the original actors would return to reprise their roles.

Aside from Awkwafina, two new franchise newcomers will be joining her. Oscar Award Winning Actors Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All At Once, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, The Goonies) as Han, the leader of the Den of Thieves, and Viola Davis (The Help, How to Get Away With Murder, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.) as the sorceress known as Chameleon, who can shapeshift into any creature, and is after Po’s Staff of Wisdom, which would help her re-summon all of the master villians, whom were vanquished to the Spirit Realm. Returning voice cast members include Dustin Hoffman as Kung Fu master Shifu; James Hong as Po’s adoptive father, Mr. Ping; Bryan Cranston as Po’s birth father, Li; and Ian McShane as Tai Lung, Shifu’s former student and nemesis. As mentioned previously, Mike Mitchell (Trolls, Shrek Forever After) will be directing this new film.

Since the release of Dreamworks Animation‘s 2008 Oscar-nominated Kung Fu Panda, the franchise has earned more than $1.8 billion at the global box office. Its last theatrical release, Kung Fu Panda 3, opened in 2016. Universal will open this new installment on March 8.
