The E3 Video Game Trade Show Has Officially Ended

It’s the end of an era. After three years of stalled attempts, and a forced cancellation due to the global health epidemic, COVID-19, the E3 Video Game Industry Trade Show has finally reached the end as the Entertainment Software Association formally announced the end of the event.

Some say that E3 outlived its usefulness in the wake of Gaming Brands such as Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony unveiled their own Showcases, Directs, or State of Play. This includes the Game Awards, which has come into scrutiny for focusing more on Celebrities instead of the game developers, and not addressing the devastating layoffs that the industry has faced.

The end of E3 marked the end of a major chapter in video game history that began as a spinoff of the Consumer Electronics Show in 1995. E3’s popularity grew as the medium exploded in popularity in the past 28 years as the industry grew in visibility. We’re thankful for what E3 has accomplished and for bringing us not only excitement but was part of our lives when we were growing up.
