They’re coming back, and they are bringing a new enemy along with them. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire prepares to take the sequel back to its roots in New York.
It picks up after the events of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the Spengler Family and the Ghostbusters stopped Gozer’s return in a rural Oklahoma town. Now, with the original team and the recruits, the team faces a new foe that has turned New York into a Winter Nightmare, thanks to a mysterious new foe, Death Chill that took over the city.

New additions to the cast would also include Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O’Connor, and Logan Kim. The film will also serve as the first film in the Ghostbusters film franchise that will not include the involvement of the film’s original director, Ivan Reitman, who passed away in 2022. His son Jason directed Afterlife with Ivan, before his passing at 75, credited as a producer and co-screenwriter. The new film is directed by Gil Kenan, who co-wrote it with Jason Reitman, which will open in theaters on March 29, 2024.
