New York Comic-Con is back once again, and we’re looking at several of the biggest announcements from Day One. This also marks the return of This Week, In The Nerd Fandom, so sit back and enjoy these fantastic new announcements!

Toei Animation Announces Dragon Ball Daima Anime

We’re starting the coverage with the biggest announcement of the convention so far, Toei Animation revealed a brand-new Dragon Ball anime series that is set to debut in the Fall of 2024. Dragon Ball DAIMA looks to be part of a special celebration to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball manga, Akira Toriyama has been confirmed to be involved in the new series.

DC Revives Elseworld Imprint with Six New Titles

DC announced that it would be bringing back one of its iconic imprints, Elseworlds, which made its debut in 1991 with memorable stories such as Alex Ross and Mark Waid’s Kingdom Come, Norm Breyfogle and Alan Brennert’s Batman: Holy Terror. The newly relaunched imprint aims to tell new tales of DC’s heroes (With most being Batman and Batfamilyrelated titles). Here is a list of titles that have been announced:

  • Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age (Twelve Issue Series)- Andy Diggle and Leandro Fernandez
  • Batman The Barbarian (A Six-Issue Series)- Greg Smallwood
  • Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter (A Six-Issue Series)- Jay Kristoff, and Tirso Cons
  • Green Lantern: Dark (A Seven-Issue Series)- Tate Brombal and Werther Dell’Edera
  • Batman: Nightfire (A Six-Issue Series)- Clay and Seth Mann
  • DC vs Vampires: World War V (A 12-Issue Series)- Matthew Rosenberg and Otto Schmidt

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Gets A New Teaser Trailer

Two big announcements came up for The Walking Dead, focusing mainly on two spin-off TV series, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live got a new teaser trailer, which dropped the new release window for February 2024. Joining the cast will be Pollyanna McIntosh’s Jadis, Lost’s Terry O’Quinn as Beale, and Matt Jeffries’ Nat.

As for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, the season one finale is set to premiere on Sunday, but they have now confirmed that Melissa McBride will be returning to the world of the undead for season two titled The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon- The Book of Carol, set to premiere sometime in 2024.

Dynamite Entertainment To Publish New Titles Such As Thundercats, Jonny Quest, The Powerpuff Girls

According to a new report from Gamesradar, Dynamite Entertainment will be publishing a line of comics based on Warner Bros. Discovery animated shows such as Thundercats, The Flinstones, Jonny Quest, Space Ghost, Power Puff Girls, and more to be announced at a later date. Fans can look forward to this in 2024, this also confirms that the Comic Book Publisher has the license to publish both Disney animated titles and now their competitor Warner Bros. Discovery, even though both Disney and Warner Bros own their own Comic Book Publishing Companies.
