Heartstopper, Jujutsu Kaisen, and TMNT: The Last Ronin Take Over Sept. NY Times Best Seller List

Last month, it was the high-flying battle between Kaido and Gear Five Luffy taking over the top five in August’s New York Times Best Seller List for Graphic Novels and Manga. This month focuses on Supernatural Battles and Young Romance as Jujutsu Kaisen and Heartstopper take on the top five.

Alice Oseman’s Heartstopper’s first four volumes have taken over the chart, fueled by the recent premiere of the second season on Netflix. Unfortunately, Heartstopper is one of the titles that have been a casualty in the Nation’s ongoing Culture War, which includes book removals and censorship that has been going on in the United States due to LGBTQIA+ themes.

As for Manga, there were only two titles on the Best Seller List. Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen Vol. 20, and Jujutsu Kaisen Vol. 1. The popular supernatural manga’s Shibuya Incident arc made its debut in the TV Anime on August 31st. Finally, the popular comic book spin-off based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Last Ronin made its return to the list, TMNT The Last Ronin will have a sequel coming in December, an upcoming video game, and Part Two of the acclaimed fan animation made by Speedokaggen.
