It is a great time to be a fan of GeGeGe no Kitaro. Not only to celebrate the manga author Shigeru Mizuki’s 100th Birthday and the 100th Anniversary of GeGeGe no Kitaro but to also celebrate the newest film Kitaro Tanjou- GeGeGe no Nazo. Toei released new information on the upcoming film that included a new cast list.
In a new press release from Toei, it released a beautiful new illustration, a haunting new trailer, and a cast list. The story takes us to a horrific situation in 1955, where Kitarō’s father (who would eventually become the Medama Oyaji) arrives in a village to search for his missing wife. Meanwhile, a salaryman is tasked to venture into a cursed village under secret orders. In a village where outsiders rarely come and go, the family begins to feel uneasy about the cold stares they receive from the people, when a gruesome murder occurs within the family. A sinister torii gate, a mysterious medicine bottle, a man with a white face and black teeth, a creepy old man, and monsters that keep appearing one after another… What is the terrifying truth hidden in this village where both humans and monsters are hiding something? And how will the encounter between these two people, who were never supposed to meet, affect the birth of Kitaro?
According to Anime News Network, the film is part of the Four Projects and serves as a commemoration of Shigeru Mizuki’s Birth. Mizuki passed away in 2015. The new film is set to debut on November 17, Listed below is the cast list and staff list for the upcoming film.
