Iron Circus Animation Announces New Backerkit Campaign for Lackadaisy

If you were wishing for more Lackadaisy, then you’re in luck! Iron Circus Animation has announced a new crowdfunding campaign with Backerkit to help fund not only creating new animation but to fund newer editions of the Award-Winning Lackadaisy graphic novels, etc.

The campaign is already racing past $200k in crowdfunding, its mission is to help bring in Season One of the Lackadaisy animated web series. Animation Magazine recently reached out to Iron Circus Animation and shared exclusive comments from Fable Siegel and Iron Comics Spike Trotman. Here are items that are offered as Backer Benefits:

1. New 11.25″ x 10.25″ hardcover editions of Lackadaisy
2. The Lackadaisy Essentials, an art-and-lore volume highlighting the scenes and characters of the Lackadaisy universe
3. Limited edition plushies of Lackadaisy’s chaotic protagonist Rocky Rickaby and fan-favorite criminal kitty, Mordecai Heller

The animation style brings together talented artists and animators for something fantastic. It makes me nostalgic for the works of Don Bluth and Ralph Bakshi. Iron Circus Comics, known by many as Chicago’s Largest Alternative Comics Publisher, is helping bring the Webcomic to life. The Webcomic series has won multiple Web Cartoonists’ Choice Awards, and in 2011, it was nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Digital Comic. This animated short film is the first-ever multimedia endeavor from Spike Trotman’s Iron Circus Comics, the trailblazing comics publisher that has raised nearly $3 million over more than 30 crowdfunding campaigns. The short was originally crowdfunded to the tune of $330,000, thanks to almost 6,000 backers. The pilot has reached 10 Million Views, and it has also caught the attention of the likes of iconic animator and director Ralph Bakshi, illustrator Tyson Hesse and director Lilly Wachowski, who praised the “Lush and Gorgeous” animation and “super fun” story.
