The latest chapter in the 27-year-old film series, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One, made its debut last week and has topped the domestic box office charts. But it has fallen short of initial expectations according to Entertainment news sources. As for the debut of Psycho-Pass Providence, it brings in over $210k.
Tom Cruise’s latest film collected $56.2 million between Friday and Sunday. Some would describe it as a lackluster start for a film that is budgeted at nearly $300 million before marketing. Paramount Pictures and Skydance had hopes of establishing a new franchise record but the ticket sales landed the newest film behind 2018’s Mission Impossible: Fallout ($66 Million), and 2000’s Mission Impossible II ($57.8 million). But let’s not make comparisons, Dead Reckoning made its debut on Wednesday rather than on a Friday, the film did generate an estimated $80 million in its first five days, and it was something that Fallout and Mission Impossible II couldn’t accomplish.

As for the film that took second place, Angel Studios’ newest film Sound of Freedom brought in $25 million from 3,265 theaters, up 25% from last weekend, and has collected an impressive $83 Million after two weeks of its release, according to Variety. Sound of Freedom is a faith-based film that focuses on one of the most pressing issues in the world right now, human trafficking, and is based on the true story of a former Department of Homeland Security agent named Tim Ballad, a man who made it his mission to save children who had been sex trafficked. Though, in this writer’s opinion the studio may want to distance itself from working around actors, and personnel, and adapting true-life stories from people who have embraced ideology, and conspiracy theories that can hurt not only the public, but harm the studio in credibility, financially, and socially.
As we move further down the top five, Sony’s latest horror sequel, Insidious: The Red Door dropped to No. 3, while it led the box office for one week, it was a different story this time with $13 million from 3,188 venues. So far, it’s holding up strong at $58 million on its $16 million budget.
Celebrate the legacy of Indiana Jones with this rewarding build as you create the iconic opening scene from the Raiders of the Lost Ark movie. This impressive Temple of the Golden Idol LEGO set for adults looks great displayed on a shelf and includes lots of interactive functions including Indiana Jones swinging across a cavern and being chased by a massive boulder.Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny dropped to No. 4 in its third weekend, adding $12 million from 3,865 venues. As of yesterday, the film has grossed $145 million in North America and $302 million globally. Finally, rounding up the top five was another Disney-related film, Elemental, which has brought in $8.7 million from 3,235 theaters in its fifth weekend on the big screen. While the film had a $200 million budget, it has stuck around $125.3 million domestically and $311.7 million globally, it is a big-budget type of film like Indiana Jones, but both films have a way to go to get out of the red.

Finally, the Science Fiction Crime Film, based on the Psycho-Pass animated series Psycho-Pass Providence, has brought in $210,219 in a limited-viewing venue of 419 theaters, it. The film is still scheduled to be released in the UK and Ireland on August 2nd. Psycho-Pass Providence will also be released this summer in Australia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Benelux, Spain, Mexico, Chile, Peru, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, with release dates to be announced.
